WILKES-BARRE — Mayor George Brown reminds property owners 2020 tax payment deadlines have been extended.

Under the adjusted schedule:

• The last day to pay the full-face amount of the Wilkes-Barre property tax is June 4. It was extended to the new date from May 4 in March when the mayor declared a state of emergency for the coronavirus.

• The third installment, for people paying under the installment plan, is due June 4. It was extended from May 4.

• The fourth installment is due July 3. It was extended from June 3.

City Hall remains closed to the public. The payment drop box outside City Hall is inaccessible due to the scaffolding for the roof repairs. The tax office still has access to the mail. Taxpayers should mail their payments and installment payment coupons to: Wilkes-Barre City Tax Office, 40 East Market St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.

Checks or money orders are to be made payable to the, City of Wilkes-Barre. Taxpayers requesting a receipt should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The postmark date will be accepted as the payment date.
