WILKES-BARRE — Vandals have struck the Christopher Columbus statue on Public Square for the second time in three days.

Red paint was discovered smeared on the statue with a broken red paint jar nearby Monday morning.

City police said the vandalism occurred sometime on Sunday.

The statue was vandalized on Friday after a Black Lives Matter event on Public Square.

Police said they are reviewing surveillance video and pictures and questioning witnesses.
