CONYNGHAM TWP. — Donation efforts have begun for a family who lost their home to a fire early Monday morning.

Around 3 a.m. on Monday, a fire ripped through the home of Nikki Foley, a resident of the Wapwallopen section of Conyngham Township. Ross was able to get her five children out of the home safely, but the house was a total loss and Ross and her children have lost everything.

A GoFundMe started by Tom Bukowski, a resident of the same neighborhood where Foley lived with her children, has begun making the rounds on social media, boosted by the Luzerne County Fire Companies Facebook page.

“They escaped with their pajamas and nothing else,” the description on the GoFundMe reads. “Please help if you can … any and all help would be greatly appreciated to help them rebuild their shattered life!!!”

The page has been active for about 20 hours, and has raised $725 for Foley and her children out of a $2,500 goal.

Around the community, residents and some of the local fire companies have made their own efforts to gather clothes, food and other essential items for the family.

The Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company has asked that donations of clothes and shoes be made to either the fire station or the Conyngham Township Municipal Building, along with a list of sizes for Foley and her five children, who range in age from 1 to 14. The full list of sizes can be found at the company’s Facebook page.

The St. John’s U.C.C. Church located at 416 Church St. in Wapwallopen is also accepting donations at this time. The church will be open from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday to anyone looking to donate money, food, gift cards, clothing and hygiene products.
