KINGSTON — A man from Lewisburg was jailed Tuesday on allegations he sent sexually explicit messages to a teenage girl who was an undercover police detective.

Detectives Stephen Gibson and Thomas Paratore traveled to the residence of Seth Michael Salsman, 31, after he solicited a fictitious 15-year-old girl into having sexual relations in multiple text messages that began June 17, according to court records.

Salsman allegedly described explicit sexual and lewd acts including telling the girl to call him “daddy” and to send him pictures.

Police in court records say Salsman believed he was communicating with a 15-year-old girl.

According to the criminal complaint:

A detective assuming the identity of a 15-year-old girl on a social media site received a message from “Seth” who wrote “Hey” on June 17.

After receiving no response, “Seth” sent another message “Hey (girl’s first name)” on June 18.

Police identified Seth as Seth Salsman.

After Salsman sent a third message, “Hello,” to the girl on June 19, the undercover detective began communicating with him.

Salsman told the girl he was 29-years-old and on the social media site for dating. He asked the girl if she liked older guys, and claimed he worked in a warehouse.

Salsman quickly turned to writing sexual messages asking the girl, “Do u want me in a sexual way?” and asked the girl if her previous boyfriend used condoms, the complaint says.

Police allege Salsman requested the girl multiple times to send him pictures. When no pictures were sent, Salsman became suspicious telling the girl she was fake and he was being cautious, police allege.

Messages continued between Salsman and the fictitious girl to include his desire to perform certain sex acts, the complaint says.

Salsman allegedly sent a picture to the girl of him lying on a bed wearing boxers with a lewd sexual message.

Salsman planned to meet the girl on July 11 or July 12.

Police in the complaint said Salsman, when questioned by the detectives, admitted to messaging an underage girl in Kingston and agreed to meet with her. Salsman claimed when she told him that she was underage, he told her to “go away,” the complaint says.

Salsman was arraigned by District Judge James Haggerty in Kingston on six counts of unlawful contact with a minor and a single count of criminal use of communication facility. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $150,000 bail.
