PLAINS TWP. — Township police say they arrested Cody Allen Schaffer, 30, of Williamsport, after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend inside a hotel room at Mohegan Sun Casino early Wednesday morning.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police responded to the casino for a domestic dispute involving Schaffer just after 4 a.m.

Schaffer told police he was arguing with his girlfriend about money.

Police spoke with the woman who claimed Schaffer was drinking for most of the day and they began arguing when they arrived at their hotel room.

She told police she wanted to gather her belongings and get away from Schaffer, the complaint says.

Police in the complaint said the woman reported Schaffer shoved her on a bed, forcibly removed a phone from her hand, and shoved her face in a pillow holding her down on the bed by her chest and neck.

Police said the woman managed to escape and ran down a hallway banging on doors for help.

Schaffer was arraigned by District Judge Ferris Webby in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
