WILKES-BARRE — A Freeland man pleaded guilty to charges that were filed after four handguns were found in the vehicle he was driving with three juveniles.

Gabriel Fabian, 18, entered a guilty plea on Friday on one felony count each of firearms not to be carried without a license and a count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer on Friday before Luzerne County President Judge Michael T. Vough on Friday.

Fabian was arrested in April of this year after Hazleton police attempted to pull him over for failing to obey a stop sign at the intersection of East Holly and North Wyoming streets.

The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. one early April night, while city Mayor Jeff Cusat had imposed a curfew on non-essential foot and motor vehicle traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police say Fabian led officers on a high-speed pursuit over the course of several blocks, including driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Fabian and three juveniles were eventually removed from the vehicle, and police say they found a loaded .357 caliber revolver, a loaded 9mm handgun. a loaded .45-caliber handgun and a .40-caliber Glock handgun inside the vehicle, including four skis masks and four pair of gloves.

Police said the Glock had been reported stolen to Wilkes-Barre Police in November.

Vough accepted Fabian’s guilty plea in this case, along with a misdemeanor count of theft stemming from a 2019 case.

Vough scheduled Fabian’s sentencing for Sept. 11. Court records show Fabian remains locked up in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000 straight cash bail.
