WILKES-BARRE — City police arrested a man they allege threatened two women with a knife at Park Avenue Tower on Sunday.

Robert Lee, 27, of Roosevelt Street, Edwardsville, was arrested when police found him carrying a baseball bat on South Hancock Street just before 3 p.m.

Police said a knife was found inside Lee’s pocket, according to court records.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police responded to Park Avenue Towers on a report a man armed with a knife was “going after” two women.

A woman told police she parked her vehicle and observed Lee shouting at a woman. She began walking toward the apartment complex and asked the woman to come with her if she did not feel safe.

Police said the woman followed the tenant into the building but Lee placed his foot in the doorway preventing the door from closing.

Lee brandished a knife, threatened to stab them and said he would “slap the (expletive)” out of the victim, the complaint says.

Lee left the apartment complex and was arrested a block away.

Police said when Lee was arrested and directed to drop the baseball bat, he blurted out, “I’m not gonna get jumped by anyone,” the complaint says.

Lee was arraigned by District Judge Donald Whittaker in Nanticoke on charges of burglary, possessing instruments of crime, terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and two counts of disorderly conduct. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000 bail.
