WILKES-BARRE — On Monday Mayor George Brown and his administrative staff will temporarily relocate to the lower level of the Innovation Center from their fourth-floor offices at City Hall.

The relocation to 7 S. Main St. will last as long as it takes to repair the air conditioning and elevator at City Hall. Other city departments will remain in City Hall at 40 E. Market St.

“It will be a functioning and working office,” Brown said Friday. He said he will be able to meet there with visitors by appointment.

The office space is being donated by the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber, Brown said.

The Innovation Center previously served as city headquarters from April 13 to June 22 while City Hall underwent repairs for damage caused by a storm that tore off a portion of the roof.

There will be enough room for administrative meetings in accordance with the guidelines for social distancing set by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control.

There is no direct phone at the relocated office space, so residents are encouraged to leave detailed messages with their name, phone number, address, and reason for calling, when contacting the mayor’s office at 570.208.4158. Calls will be returned as soon as possible. The mayor’s office also can be reached by private message on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/WilkesBarreCity, and through the contact form on the city’s website at https://www.wilkes-barre.city/.
