WILKES-BARRE — A mother and son duo who were charged in an on October 2016 shooting incident were found guilty late last week, court records show.

Donna Sherbin, 69, and her son, Charles Vincent Sherbin, 30, both of Hanover Township, were found guilty on counts of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, simple assault and reckless endangerment by a jury on Friday.

Police say the Sherbins followed Harry Sager in what seems to have been a case of road rage, with the elder Sherbin behind the wheel of the car. Sager said the pair followed him through Hanover Green while he was heading home from the Weis Market in Nanticoke.

Once Sager became certain he was being followed, he drove to his business, Sager’s Service Center, which is where Charles Sherbin fired a series of two shots at Sager while at the scene, firing off more rounds while fleeing.

Police found two handguns in the Sherbins’ Jeep Laredo.

While being questioned by police, Charles Sherbin made a series of unprompted threats against Sager while being questioned, despite being advised of his constitutional rights.

“All I want to talk about is that bullet that was an inch away from taking that guy’s life,” Sherbin allegedly said, before going on to say that he would have done it again.

Records show that the Sherbins, who have been incarcerated for around four years, had a relatively brief trial, lasting only around two days. Jurors deliberated for just short of eight hours on Friday before finding both mother and son guilty on all counts against them.

Luzerne County President Judge Michael T. Vough will sentence them on Oct. 2.
