HAZLETON — A joint investigation involving federal, state and municipal authorities resulted in the arrest of Daniel John Allegretto, 40, on felony drug trafficking offenses on Thursday.

Authorities allege Allegretto, known as “Bones,” sold large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Hazleton and Freeland areas of Luzerne County since June.

Search warrants were served at a residence at The Freeland Village complex and a residence in the 500 block of Seybert Street in Hazleton early Thursday morning, authorities said.

As a result of the search warrants, authorities say they seized more than $18,000.

Allegretto, who is on probation on an unrelated offense, cut off an electronic ankle bracket, authorities said.

Allegretto was arraigned on six counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and four counts of criminal use of communication facility. He was deemed a danger to society and jailed at the county correctional facility without bail.

The investigation involved Hazleton City Police Narcotics Division, police in Butler Township, Freeland and West Hazleton, Luzerne County Drug Task Force, state police Vice Unit and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
