WILKES-BARRE — Justin Woychik has announced his candidacy for district judge to serve District 11-1-02, encompassing East End, North End, Parsons, Miners Mills and Heights sections of Wilkes-Barre.

The lifelong city resident is an EMT and state constable who formerly worked as a police officer in Wilkes-Barre Township.

A graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, Woychik earned an undergraduate degree in computers and information systems from King’s College. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health care administration.

Woychik is running as a Democrat, but asks Republicans to write him in.

He has set up a Facebook page for his campaign, which can be reached by visiting www.woychikforjudge.com.

He will run in the May 19 primary against Jared Martin Kane and Tom Malloy, both of whom cross-filed to run on both party ballots.

Compensation for district judges is $88,290 this year, according to the state.
