SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. — The Abington Heights School District Music Department was recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the nation. The music department received this same recognition in 2001.

The recognition is based upon a district’s music instruction, commitment to standards, student and teacher accomplishments, enrollment, funding, how often students are instructed, what is offered as far as classes and what positions and programs are retained in the district and how Abington Heights constantly strives to improve the department.
