Lawton

WILKES-BARRE — Luzerne County Manager Robert Lawton did not obtain a position he sought as county administrator in Conchise County, Arizona.

According to the county’s website, their Board of Supervisors announced the appointment of Deputy County Administrator Jim Vlahovich as the new county administrator. Vlahovich is replacing outgoing County Administrator Mike Ortega.

Lawton previously unsuccessfully sought new administrative positions in Illinois and Ohio, and it is widely believed he is looking to leave both this area and his position as Luzerne County manager.

Lawton, who recently marked his three-year anniversary as the county’s first permanent manager under the home rule government, declined comment.
