Sr. Anne Francis Pulling will sign copies of her book at Barnes & Noble on April 19.

WILKES-BARRE — Sr. Anne Frances Pulling, RSM, will sign her pictorial history book on Dallas from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 at Barnes & Noble in the Arena Hub Plaza.

The book includes numerous vintage photos with commentary of downtown Dallas and the surrounding areas. There is also a chapter on the founding of College Misericordia (now Misericordia University) by the Sisters of Mercy, including the burning of crosses by the KKK on the college campus. The book notes the burnings went on for a decade, while the college enrollment continued to grow.

Sr. Anne Frances also details the flooding of Wyoming Valley caused by Hurricane Agnes in 1972, Misericordia’s Alumnae Hall became a full- functioning hospital within four hours.

Besides treating over 5000 cases, there were 52 babies born on the college campus, the first born to a woman who had graduated from Misericordia.
