DALLAS — The Dallas School Board held a special meeting to accept the retirement or resignation of eight employees Monday night at the administrative building.

Paul Reinert, middle school principal for 18 years, and Jeanne Faneck, secretary of the Wycallis Elementary School, will retire at the end of the school year.

Instructors Paul Brown, Claire Morris and Kathy Kupstas also will retire following the end of the school year.

The board also accepted the retirements of Maintenance Department employees Edna Hoyt, Larry Lavelle and Catherine Schweizer, with Hoyt and Lavelle to retire in June and Scheizer having retired in March.

“We’re deeply grateful for their services over the years and they will be missed,” board President Colleen Slocum said.

Thomas Duffy, current assistant to the superintendent, will enter into a five-year contract as superintendent effective July 1, as adopted by the board.

In other business, the board authorized the application for a state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources DCNR grant following the review and approval of Solicitor Vito Deluca.

The grant, which is funded by the Community Conservation Partnership Program, will be used for the improvement of the athletic fields if awarded to the district.
