WILKES-BARRE — One person was injured following a shooting at the Sherman Hills apartment complex Wednesday night, city police said.

Officers responded to 308 North Empire Court following a report that a man had been shot. They arrived to find a male with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

The victim was treated by Wilkes-Barre paramedics at the scene before being transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation, police said.

Further information about the individual and his condition were not available early Thursday.

Wilkes-Barre police are investigating in conjunction with Pennsylvania State Police and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s office.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim appeared to have gotten into an argument with one or more unknown subjects in a dark colored vehicle, police said.

The argument escalated, police said, with one of the subjects in the vehicle pulling out a firearm and shooting the victim, who collapsed in front of building 308.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information concerning this incident is asked to contact the Wilkes-Barre Police Detective Division at at 570 208-4222 and ask for either Det. Casey or Det. Harding.
