HARRISBURG — A bill introduced by State Rep. Karen Boback, R-Harveys Lake, to prevent the installation of counterfeit airbags in vehicles was passed by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and will move to the state Senate for consideration.

The bill would hold individuals legally accountable for intentionally making, distributing, selling, installing or re-installing counterfeit or nonfunctional airbags, and it would also make it illegal to tamper with a readiness indicator light.

In a press release from Jan. 7, Boback said, “This bill, if passed, would keep Pennsylvania safer,” citing legislation passed in other states that has protected consumers.
