EXETER — The Wyoming Area School Board opened Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting with a report from BBD, LLP, the new company hired this year to do the state-mandated annual single audit. Steward Morcom told the board there were no issues found, and that the district overall saw increase in the fund balance.
The board also:
• Accepted the retirement of art teacher Barbara Talaska.
• Accepted the resignations of personal care aide Sharon Sorokin and assistant cheerleading coach Kendra Radle.
• Approved an agreement with Active Day to provide adult day services to a Wyoming Area student two days per week beginning April 2. The student is 21, the oldest the state requires a district to provide special education services, and will be transitioning out of the program.
• Approved payment of $34,689 to Troy Mechanical, Inc. for air purification work.
• Approved a change order for tennis court electrical construction work by Richard Mellow Corp. at a cost of $3,550. Superintendent Jon Pollard said the work involved installing conduits to run electrical wires under the courts, and noted that previously the district saved money when some planned ground work was found to be unnecessary.
• Authorized advertising for Requests For Proposal for a new phone system for all district properties. The advertisement will be no later than March 31.
• Approved an agreement with the Education Support Professionals union to allow any member of the support staff to voluntarily donate one sick leave day during during the current school year to Abigail Smetana.
