WILKES-BARRE — An Edwardsville man accused of stealing money from an elderly woman’s apartment in a secured high rise in Hanover Township and being charged with three drunken driving offenses in 2014 is going to state prison.

Luzerne County Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. on Tuesday sentenced Michael Paul Holovack, 39, last known address as Meyers Street, to six to 12 years in state prison on a host of charges, including burglary, simple assault, resisting arrest and three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol. Upon release from prison, Holovack was ordered to serve two years of special probation.

Here is a list of offenses against Holovack, according to court records:

• Aug. 16, 2014: Wilkes-Barre police stopped Holovack for erratic driving and nearly colliding with a police cruiser on Scott Street. City police alleged Holovack had an alcohol level of .214 percent.

• Aug. 15, 2014: Pittston police stopped Holovack for speeding and passing through a red traffic signal at South Main and Swallow streets. City police alleged Holovack had an alcohol level of .191 percent.

• May 1, 2014: Jenkins Township police stopped Holovack for speeding on River Road. Several open cans of beer were allegedly found inside the vehicle. Township police alleged Holovack had an alcohol level of .193 percent.

• April 24, 2014: Hanover Township police alleged Holovack was inside Lee Park Towers, a secured high rise for elderly residents, visiting a friend. Holovack had been drinking and hanging out in hallways asking residents if they wanted to buy postage stamps.

Holovack entered an apartment of an elderly woman who was sleeping. The woman was awakened and startled to find Holovack in her apartment. She reported Holovack had stolen money, a bank and gift card and jewelry, court records say.

Township police alleged Holovack used the bank card to purchase beer at several businesses and using the gift card to buy cigarettes.

• Feb. 20, 2014: Kingston police alleged Holovack assaulted a woman by throwing her into a vehicle and punching her in the face several times during an argument about a vehicle crash on Pierce Street. Holovack left the area but was arrested when found walking on Pierce Street.

Police alleged Holovack resisted arrest and spat inside the cruiser, telling officers he was going to “(expletive) them up,” court records say.
