SCRANTON — A man from Luzerne was charged Friday by federal prosecutors with stealing more than $20,000 from the U.S. Postal Service by submitting multiple false insurance claims.
Prosecutors alleged David Steele, 44, submitted false insurance claims from October 2011 to June 2013 resulting in losses totaling $20,903.13.
A plea agreement has been filed subject to appeal by a federal judge.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
