PHILADELPHIA — Tara Mosley Samples, a member of the Akron City Council, wants to believe Hillary Clinton, but she’s not convinced she can.

Samples, a delegate pledged to Sen. Bernie Sanders, said the Vermont senator is doing the best he can to convince his supporters to vote for Clinton — the objective being to deny Republican Donald Trump the presidency.

“I’m not there yet,” Mosley said Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center. “But I’m not saying I won’t be there by November.”

Samples did say she could not vote for Trump.

“I won’t vote for Satan,” she said of Trump. “Bernie has 13 million people behind him and that’s a significant amount of votes.”

But Samples said it’s about issues, like bringing jobs home, raising the minimum wage, providing free college and going after the greed on Wall Street that she wants to see a part of the Clinton campaign.

“I want to see her be sincere about these issues,” she said.
