KINGSTON — An auto-parts store giving borough council a problem has been ordered to cease and desist, officials say.

During Monday’s council meeting, municipal administrator Paul Keating said solicitor Harry Mattern has sent a letter to Franconi Auto Parts Co.’s attorney asking to “amicably” resolve an issue regarding an alley.

Residents use the alley behind Franconi to get to Carle Street. But Keating said residents have complained the alley is blocked with employees’ personal vehicles.

“(Franconi owners claim) the alley that goes to Landon (Avenue) is part of their property,” Keating said.

Keating downplayed any offical action other than the letter. “It’s basically a property dispute.” He said he was “just keeping council informed” should it become a legal matter.

In other business, council:

• Heard from Greg Richters, of Represent NEPA, the local organization of Represent US. The Kingston resident presented council with an anti-corruption resolution to end corruption in the borough. He said there have been 50 anti-corruption ordinances passed across the county with Wilkes-Barre, Dallas and the county itself passing similar acts.

“We address issues with corruption, bribery … and get the people’s voice where it needs to be,” Richters said, noting previous scandals in Luzerne. “Money has been very corrosive.”

The resolution will be discussed at a future work session.

• Appointed Jennifer Podsadlak to the planning commission.
