Police in Hazleton searching for assault suspect

HAZLETON — Police are searching for a man who is accused of assaulting and injuring another man.

Police said officers were dispatched to the rear parking lot in the area of 554 W. Broad St. for a report a male bleeding from the head. Police identified Burt Peltz, no age given, of West Hazleton, as one of the suspects.

Police said the victim is a 62-year-old male who is “well-known” in the community, but his identity was not provided. The victim had to be transported to a hospital via ambulance, and then transported to a trauma center via helicopter.

The police report did not provide details, but police have issued an arrest warrant for Peltz for aggravated assault.

Police are asking anyone with information on Peltz’s whereabouts to contact the Hazleton City Police Department via 911, or to visit the department’s tip line at www.hazletonpolice.com.
