Police: Sweet Valley man runs through swamp to avoid capture

DALLAS — An unruly and intoxicated Sweet Valley man attempted to escape police by running through a swamp along Memorial Highway on Saturday, according to court records.

Bradley Cease Jr., 27, was arraigned by District Judge Thomas Malloy in Wilkes-Barre on two counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of resisting arrest, public drunkenness and harassment. He was released on $15,000 unsecured bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police investigated an intoxicated man inside Back Mountain Bowling on Memorial Highway.

Cease was in the parking lot and approached an officer.

Police allege Cease had a strong odor of intoxicating beverage emitting from him.

Cease ran from the officer running across Memorial Highway and jumping a guide rail, the complaint says.

Police allege in the complaint Cease ran through a swamp where he was tasered.

Another man told police Cease was intoxicated and became upset inside the bowling facility when he was not allowed to leave with alcohol, the complaint says.
