WILKES-BARRE — M&T Bank on Wednesday distributed $62,000 to 30 local nonprofits to fund their initiatives for children in need.

The nonprofit organizations are based in Luzerne, Lackawanna and Wyoming counties. Representatives from the recipient nonprofits were presented with checks by M&T Bank Regional President Phil Johnson.

In an emailed news release, M&T Bank said the money was being given to show appreciation for the work that not-for-profit organizations do to keep communities strong. M&T hosted a Holiday Luncheon Celebration at the Westmoreland Club where M&T Regional President Phil Johnson and M&T Charitable Foundation committee members disbursed $62,000 in donations to support the following nonprofit organizations:

Allied Services, ARC of NEPA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Bridge, Boys & Girls Club of NEPA, Care & Concern Free Health Clinic, Catherine McAuley Center, Catholic Social Services/St. Hedwig’s, Catholic Youth Center, CEO/Weinberg Food Bank, Children’s Service Center, EOTC of Northeastern PA, Family Services Association, Friends of the Poor, Greater Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA, Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center, Luzerne County Headstart, U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, Salvation Army, Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen, St. Joseph’s Center, St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen, Valley Santa, Victims Resource Center, Voluntary Action Center, Volunteers of America-Baby Pantry, Women With Children/Misericordia University, Women’s Resource Center, Wyoming Valley Children’s Association, Allied Services.
