KINGSTON — A man was burned and three other individuals were displaced Saturday in a fire at a double-block home, officials say.

Kingston firefighters were called out about 3:40 p.m. to battle the blaze that started at 196 Pringle St.

“It appears to be a cooking incident,” said Fire Chief Frank Guido. He confirmed that the blaze “definitely started in the kitchen.”

Guido also said the home sustained “substantial damage” which extended to 194 Pringle and the second and third floors, but the damage is fixable. The siding on the left side of the home next door at 198 Pringle was also slightly warped due to the fire.

Only one individual was inside 196 Pringle at the time of the incident. Guido said he was burned and taken to a local hospital for treatment. No further details on the victim’s condition were available.

The Red Cross was arranging for the three tenants at 194 Pringle to stay in a hotel Saturday night, Guido said. Fire departments from Edwardsville, Forty Fort, and Hanover Township were all on scene to assist.

This is the second fire in Kingston in less than a week caused by a cooking mishap. Five people were displaced and three pets died in a blaze late Tuesday on North Maple Avenue. Officials blamed that incident on fajitas left unattended while cooking.

Saturday’s house fire is currently under investigation.
