BLACK CREEK TWP. — Troopers have charged a 17-year-old with stabbing a Weston woman to death in her home Friday morning.

The teen also allegedly stabbed the woman’s son in the back multiple times as the son tried to protect his mother.

Due to the suspect’s age, his name was not released.

Police said Sandra Lee Montanari, 66, Weston, was killed in the attack at her residence on Market Street.

Her son, Allen Montanari, 43, Weston, attempted to fight off the teen and called 911, authorities report.

Troopers did not specify the suspect’s relationship to the victims, but they did say the incident involved an “altercation between family members.”

Allen Montanari was treated for his stab wounds and later released from Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Troopers say the suspect was found at the scene. He also taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley for moderate injuries suffered while Allen Montanari tried to fend him off, police reported.

The teen has been charged with homicide, aggravated assault and simple assault.

He was arraigned and locked up in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility after his release from the hospital.
