Two accused of DUI in separate city crashes early Saturday

WILKES-BARRE — City officers arrested two people for drunken driving in separate crashes about four hours apart early Saturday, reports show.

In the first incident, a Plains Township man struck a parked vehicle on North Washington Street about 2:15 a.m., authorities say.

Driver Matthew Wesawski, 24, was observed to be intoxicated and was arrested, according to police.

He is now facing charges of DUI and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Then, about 6:10 a.m., officers were called about a reported stolen vehicle that crashed near South Pennsylvania Avenue and East Ross Street.

Police said while speaking with Nicole Faltawws, 37, Carbondale, they determined she was driving the vehicle while drunk. They said they also found several inconsistencies with her story.

Faltawws later submitted to a breath test which showed her blood-alcohol content was above the .08 driving limit, officers say.

She is now charged with DUI and making false reports to law enforcement.
