Barnes & Noble to reopen by Thanksgiving
Barnes & Noble in the Arena Hub Plaza will reopen before Thanksgiving, according to a press release issued by the book seller today.
The store has been closed since it was damaged by an EF2 tornado earlier this month.
The release says the company is deeply committed to serving the Wilkes-Barre community and work is already underway to assess the damage and begin repairs to the store, located at 421 Arena Hub Plaza.”
“The June 13 tornado in Wilkes-Barre was a shocking event, and we’re so thankful that no one at our store was hurt. Although the building sustained heavy damage, we immediately knew that we would rebuild and continue to serve the Wilkes-Barre community,” said Jim Lampassi, Barnes & Noble vice president, real estate development. “The outpouring of support from the community was heartwarming, and we can’t wait to reopen our doors. Although it will require a lot of work we are confident that the store will be open for business by Thanksgiving.”
The Wilkes-Barre Barnes & Noble opened on November 17, 1999, and has continuously served the community for almost 19 years. All employees from the store will keep their jobs and have been helping with the rebuilding process.
