WILKES-BARRE — City police and troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Wyoming barracks launched joint saturation patrols last weekend in the wake of a series of shootings that have plagued the city.

According to a press release by the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, the operation resulted in arrests in several cases:

• Throughout the weekend, officers initiated 95 contacts that resulted in: 10 misdemeanor arrests, three felony arrests, 16 warrant arrests, six drug arrests and two drug trafficking search warrants.

• City officers also issued 10 citations.

• During the saturation patrols, officers were able to take in Ashvan Terell Davis, 22, and Ravone Davis, 31, who authorities believe are responsible for a rash of robberies in the city’s North and East End’s of the city during January.

“This initiative between the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police is the result of an ongoing cooperative effort to reduce violent crime in the city of Wilkes-Barre,” the release said. “It is an example of the federal, state and local partnerships that have been formed to maximize resources in this effort.”
