Trump supporters finally find fault

Finally, finally, finally.

Trump’s loyal disciples, many Republicans in Congress, along with the working class, have found fault with Trump for, apparently, the very first time. I am referring to the way he has handled the Epstein files issue.

Why didn’t they speak up when he said the 2020 election was rigged against him and he actually won?

Why didn’t they speak up when they knew he caused the Jan. 6 insurrection? Then he later pardoned the guilty perpetrators, and there was no uproar.

Why didn’t they speak up against the Big Ugly Fat Bill, knowing that it extended tax reductions for the very wealthy, meaning that our deficit and the interest payments on it will eventually lead to our bankruptcy?

Why don’t they speak up against the high prices for food and housing, knowing that he promised to reduce those prices if elected?

Why don’t they get upset when he makes promises he cannot keep, like saying he will stop the war in Ukraine by punishing Russia? Aren’t they tired of all his promises in this regard?

Economics 101: Tariffs, which are like taxes on foreign goods, will increase inflation. Unfortunately, the working class, who helped him get elected, will suffer the most from the tariffs.

State sales tax is a terrible tax

The 6% Pennsylvania State sales tax on taxable items is a terrible tax because it is not based on a taxpayer’s ability to pay, and it doesn’t recognize the purchaser’s age — children and seniors pay the same rate as a wealthy adult taxpayer.

If ever there was a tax that can and should be eliminated, it is the state sales tax, and it should be replaced with a graduated-income tax.

The governor and the state legislature need to hold a serious special session to eliminate the state sales tax and many other unfair taxes now in use in Pennsylvania.
