I am writing this letter in regard to your recent editorial concerning the Millennium Park fountain.

The ability of the county manager and his division heads to simply brush this off is unacceptable.

This issue cost the taxpayers over $50,000, which could have went to a new Division Street Bridge, to fix the steam boiler for the prison or to do any number of things that are priorities in this county.

I am sure if this was money coming from the county manager’s salary he would have a different approach and attitude. The division head, Tanis Manseau, was being paid over $75,000 a year.

The horse is out of the barn but someone should be paying for the hay.

We built this beautiful fountain at the Millennium Park, and we should be enjoying its beauty, but instead, because of an incompetent administration, everyone must suffer. The county never changes does it?

The same person that appears to be responsible for the “mistake” has been rewarded with a new position in the county by the county manager, and we still will not be able to enjoy the beauty of a fountain that the taxpayers paid millions of dollars to install and maintain. This is sad for the taxpayers of Luzerne County.
