There exists a very dangerous and harmful environmental agenda proposed by the Trump Administration.

President Donald Trump and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt are working to decimate decades of environmental progress that have made our air, water and communities cleaner and safer.

No cabinet official in the administration is moving more aggressively or boldly to dismantle the agency he was charged to lead than Pruitt, a long established friend to the oil and gas industries. The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is also aggressive and tough in challenging them at every turn.

So many of Trump’s environmental actions are reckless, but none more so than the total rejection of President Barack Obama’s progress to address climate change. Trump’s foolhardy Paris climate retreat isolates the United States and threatens our health and security.

The planet continues to warm at an alarming rate. Earlier this year, scientists thought we would get a reprieve from years of record-breaking heat because of the end of the El Nino weather pattern. However, 2017 is on track to be the second hottest year on record.

In April, new aerial surveys documented a massive amount of coral bleaching in more than two-thirds of the Great Barrier Reef. Scientists say the bleaching events are happening more frequently, and they are more extreme, starving the corals of the chance to rebound. In June, a heat wave in the southwest United States grew so intense that flights into and out of Phoenix were cancelled because planes couldn’t operate at such extreme temperatures.

There will be little left for future generations to survive without the basic needs of clean air and water. The EDF is currently expanding work with states, local governments and forward-looking companies that have reaffirmed their commitment to the Paris Climate Accord.
