Where have all the watchdogs gone?

Some to a better place, called home by God. Just to name a few, the best of the best were Cal Reinbold, founder of the Greater Nanticoke Area Taxpayers Forum, J.J. Fedders Fedorchak and Angie Kasnikoski.

There are many other good ones who have passed on, but there is a great one still fighting for “we the people.” His name is Walter Griffith, former Luzerne County controller. He has the tenacity of a pit bull on a bone, and he won’t let go.

As county controller he was pledged to eliminate wasteful spending and for accountability. His was tenacious for an accounting of federal grant funds that were awarded for repairs to the Hotel Sterling to prevent deterioration. As we all know, the funds were diverted to other projects, and the hotel fell apart and was torn down.

Influential people were involved, and they were out to get him and they did. They knocked him down and out as county controller and tried to prevent him from running for the office again. But Walter Griffith got off the canvas and once again hopes to regain the controller position and work for “we the people.”

There aren’t many watchdogs left to look out for the interests of the taxpayers.

“We the people” need Walter Griffith guarding the hen house to keep the wolves away. On Nov. 7, vote Walter Griffith for Luzerne County Controller.
