I stand with the students against gun violence.

My wife and I traveled to Scranton to lend support for the March For Our Lives. I listened to intelligent, well spoken mostly young girls state their case for safe schools and a safe society.

Before some cynical adult or politician high jacks their message, let me re-enforce two important points. These young activists are NOT rallying against the second amendment. They are not looking to take away our constitutional rights. They are looking to end gun violence. A discussion about weaponry, intention and need vs want, is part of the process.

These young patriots are not Republicans or Democrats. They are citizens. They are advocating for Americans to exercise their constitutional right to vote. They want change to take place within the same system that has failed them. They want to hold the disingenuous accountable. They want to get out the vote and register every eligible voter.

Don’t minimize these “children.” Let me remind the reader that on July 4, 1776, that Alexander Hamilton was 21 years old, James Monroe 18, Aaron Burr 20, Nathan Hale 21 and Betsy Ross 24.

These kids are younger than that. They are getting a head start on changing history.
