The recent Keystone State Games Festival of Sports and Pennsylvania Senior Games were a huge success in Luzerne County. More than 4,000 participants from 17 states embarked on our community to participate in a variety of both highly competitive and recreational sporting events.
A recent editorial called for the residents of Luzerne County to be gracious hosts of the Keystone Games. We can happily say, mission accomplished and then some.
Our athletes and their families, sport directors, coaches, volunteers, officials, and spectators were welcomed with open arms to our community and enjoyed wonderful hospitality throughout the region, from hotels, restaurants and especially the great people of NEPA.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Keystone State Games Inc., I would like to thank everyone involved in this year’s games, as well as the people of Luzerne County and the surrounding areas for making this a special event for our participants.
I especially want to thank Luzerne County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Janet Hall for her vision of bringing the games back to Luzerne County, Geisinger as our official medical services provider, ensuring that our athletes and spectators were well taken care of throughout the week, the Times Leader Media Group as our official media sponsor, the Woodlands as our host operations sponsor, Montage Mountain, the RailRiders, Wilkes University, King’s College, Newberry Estates, Wyoming Seminary, the United Way, and the countless volunteers, athletic directors, field managers, security officers, police officers, and the community as a whole for being such an amazing host.
With sincere gratitude and appreciation,
Keystone State Games executive director
and proud resident of Luzerne County
