On Tuesday, Nov. 27, the global online giving movement known as #GivingTuesday reached new heights as thousands of people donated to nonprofits, working to make a difference in such sectors as health and human services, education and animal welfare.

While approximately $380 million was raised worldwide on this day, dozens of nonprofits in Northeastern Pennsylvania held Giving Tuesday fundraisers. Maternal and Family Health Services (MFHS) was among this group of local agencies, and MFHS was fortunate to take part in AllOne Charities’ first annual Giving Tuesday Match Week initiative.

Inspired by the altruistic #GivingTuesday movement, AllOne invited 31 local nonprofits to participate in a week-long online fundraiser from Nov. 21 through Nov. 28. Once an organization reached $1,000 in donations via the foundation’s website, AllOne matched the full $1,000. This innovative fundraising opportunity was a tremendous success which significantly helped to increase our donations received on Giving Tuesday.

As the top fundraiser in the AllOne Charities’ collective, MFHS fully utilized this $1,000 match opportunity to help strengthen our critical programs and services. With the support of AllOne Charities and all our generous donors, Maternal and Family Health Services is better positioned to continue providing exceptional care to women and children in our community through several core health and nutrition programs designed to educate and support local families.

On behalf of our organization, and the tens of thousands of individuals we serve each year, I extend our sincere appreciation to AllOne Charities for their immense support and altruism in organizing this Match Week.
