A little kindness goes a long way.

During the holiday season, many of us think about how we can help those who are less fortunate than us. Whether it’s a monetary contribution, a nonperishable food donation, or a gift purchased for a child, we hope to make a small difference in some way. A small act of kindness can have a big impact on those who are in need.

Luzerne County Head Start is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for low income children and their families in Luzerne and Wyoming counties. It is our mission to ensure children and their families have the resources they need to thrive and be well. The support of our community is essential in helping us to achieve our mission, especially during the holiday season.

Our community has once again gone above and beyond in their support of the children and families we serve. During the month of December, toys, hats, coats, gloves, clothing, food and countless other contributions piled up in our centers. Wagons filled to the brim with gifts donated by dozens of individuals made their way down our hallways, out our doors, onto our vans and into the homes of our children and their families. All of this was made possible by each and every individual, business and community organization that made a donation. Thanks to the efforts of all those involved, more than 1,200 children had gifts they may have not otherwise received.

Thank you to each and every person who continues to help us shape the leaders of tomorrow.

Lynn Evans Biga

Executive Director at Luzerne County Head Start
