I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Times Leader, especially your reporter, Jerry Lynott, for his diligence in reporting the condition of the Mill Creek bed in the lower Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre.

The tree and vegetation growth in the creek threatened our neighborhood with the possibility of ice or debris buildup which could have possibly caused flooding. The problem was rectified on Sept. 14, I feel due to the steadfastness of Jerry Lynott and District E Councilman Mike Merritt.

On that note, I am sad to see Mike go and realize how hard Mike has worked for us all these years. Mike, I realize at times, when dealing with certain city departments, it must have felt to you “like you were trying to send water up a downspout.”

Once again, thank you both for all your hard work.
