The Wyoming Valley Conference girls basketball coaches selected their divisional all-star teams on Sunday afternoon.

In Division 1, Berwick senior Katie Starr was selected the MVP and Wilkes-Barre Area junior Gloria Adjayi was chosen the Player of the Year. Berwick’s Bill Phillips was named Coach of the Year.

In Division 2, Lake-Lehman junior Claire Dougherty was picked as the MVP and Nanticoke Area junior Riley Baird was the Player of the Year. Lake-Lehman’s Charlie Levan was named Coach of the Year.

Division 1 first-team selections were: Berwick senior Renny Murphy; Crestwood senior Helena Jardine; Dallas senior Bella Hill; Hazleton Area senior Olivia Wolk; and Wyoming Valley West junior Trinity Johnson.

Divison 2 first-team selections were: Holy Redeemer senior Karissa Spade; Lake-Lehman junior Chase Purdy; Nanticoke Area senior Lauren Casey; Tunkhannock sophomore Anna Williams; and Wyoming Area sophomore Morgan Janeski.

Divison 1 second-team selections were: Dallas senior Julia Kocher; Nanticoke Area’s Brooke Boretski; Pittston Area sophomore Kalle Booth; and Wilkes-Barre Area senior Vanessa Luna and sophomore Shelby Ardo Boyko.

Division 2 second-team selections were: Holy Redeemer junior Faith Sekol; Lake-Lehman sophomore Hailey Kline; Nanticoke Area freshman Claire Aufiero; Tunkhannock sophomore Sable Stephens; and Wyoming Area sophomore Halle Kranson.

BOYS TENNIS

Wyoming Seminary 5, Berwick 0

Keefer Wu, Vaughn Kitish and Artur Gilienski all won singles matches to help lead the Blue Knights past Berwick.

Doubles pairs of Kizar Ali/Ryan Chun and Pat Ruthirawut/Marco Magnotta rounded out the sweep.

Crestwood 5, MMI Prep 0

Crestwood swept the Preppers thanks to wins from Julien Lacoste, Ben Ziegler and Joe Gola in the singles matches. The Comets doubles matches were won by the duos comprised of Noah Partington/Alex Covelens and Ryan Kostiuk/Brayden Fenwick.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Misericordia 3, Wilkes 1

The Cougars edged the Colonels 25-13, 25-17, 16-25, 25-19.

Anthony DePalma led Misericordia with 13 kills, three aces and five digs. Dylan Sellitti added 31 assists and Caleb Bauder had seven kills, two aces and one block.

Wilkes was led by Zach Evans who had 11 kills, six digs and 26 assists.
