Gianna Adams pitched a complete-game shutout as Pittston Area defeated Wyoming Valley West 5-0 Wednesday in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 softball game.

Adams allowed just four hits, struck out seven and walked none. She also did damage at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Ava Callahan added three hits.

Katie DeCosmo had two hits for Wyoming Valley West.

BASEBALL

Holy Redeemer 9, Wyoming Area 5

Holy Redeemer scored nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings to comeback and defeat Wyoming Area. Cameron Krugel led the offense, going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Jake Griffin was sharp on the mound, striking out nine and allowing only two earned runs.

Wyoming Seminary 7, MMI Prep 5

Gavin Flanley threw a complete game for the Blue Knights as they defeated the Preppers. He struck out nine and allowed five runs, four earned. Aiden Murphy went 3-for-4 to lead the offense.

Hazleton Area 2, Emmaus 1

Nick Biasi was strong for Hazleton Area, tossing six innings, allowing one run and striking out 10 batters on his way to a win.

Brett Antolick was the only Cougars hitter with an RBI.

North Pocono 14, Tunkhannock 1 (5 inn.)

Tunkhannock was fell in five innings to North Pocono. Josh Brown went 1-for 2 with an RBI to lead the Tigers’ offense and Mike Kuzma went 1-for-2 as well.

BOYS TENNIS

Berwick 5, Hazleton Area 0

Brendan Turowski, Dylan Smith and Graham Marshman helped lead Berwick by sweeping the singles matches. The Bulldogs also swept the doubles sets behind a win from Caden Reader/Zack Demko and a forfeit.

Dallas 5, Wyoming Seminary 0

Dallas swept Wyoming Seminary, winning every matchup in straight sets.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Delaware Valley 3, Wyoming Valley West 0

Delaware Valley defeated the Spartans in three sets 25-19, 25-9, 25-15.

Zane Paula had four kills and two blocks for Delaware Valley and Danny Zhivkovich added five kills, eight service points and four aces.

BOYS LACROSSE

Crestwood 12, Holy Redeemer 8

Trey Zabroski scored three goals and had three assists to lead the Comets to a win over Holy Redeemer. Nick Curry also scored three goals and had an assist.

Josh Wesneski led the Royals with two goals and one assist.

Scranton Prep 20, Lake-Lehman 8

Gavin Parschak led Lake-Lehman with three goals in a loss to Scranton Prep. Colby Roberts, Connor Partington, Brandon Ritinski, Landon Schuckers and Connor Spencer were the other goal scorers.

Dallas 17, Wyoming Area 2

Anderson Leo and Jackson Wydra led the Mountaineers past Wyoming Area with four goals each. Matt Jesse added three goals.

GIRLS TRACK

Dallas 117, Wyoming Valley West 33

Calli Ogurkis and Alondra Church led the Mountaineers in a meet with Woming Valley West. Ogurkis placed first in the 300 hurdles and pole vault. Church placed first in the 100 dash and 200 dash as well as helping the 400 relay team place first.

Brandy Varner led the Spartans with first-place finishes in the shot put and discus.

Misericordia sweeps

Misericordia took both games from Delaware Valley, 11-2 and 19-1. Santino Manganella had two knocks and an RBI in game one and Dalton Emerich had three hits in game two.

Stevens 12, King’s 8

Matt Mellinger went 2-for-5 to lead King’s as they fell to Stevens. Pat Noone also went 3-for-6.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Misericordia 18, DeSales 6

Justine Johnson had four goals and three assists to lead the Cougars and Michelle Torzilli added five goals.
