For the RailRiders, The Final Stretch is getting condensed.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s last homestand of 2021 was disrupted again on Thursday, as heavy rain in the area washed out the schedule against Syracuse. Now the RailRiders are set to finish four games in two days against the Mets at PNC Field.

The five-game series began Wednesday before being suspended in the top of the fifth inning because of an electrical issue at the stadium. That game will pick up at 5:05 p.m. Friday with the RailRiders leading 4-2. The teams will finish out the nine-inning contest before playing a seven-inning game afterward, tentatively scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

That means another doubleheader will be set for Saturday in Moosic with play set to begin at 2:05 p.m. The series will conclude 1:05 p.m. Sunday.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will wrap up the season next week with five games in Rochester. The Triple-A team with the best record over the 10 games in The Final Stretch will be declared the winner of the postseason event.
