With the Cougars leading by two heading into the final bout, Simon Zamudio earned a 6-0 decision at 113 pounds to clinch Hazleton Area’s 34-29 victory over Wyoming Valley West in a battle of Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 unbeatens Wednesday night.

Edonel Rodriguez (138 pounds) and Jonas Aponick (160) picked up pins in the team win.

Joe Rivas helped start a rally for the Spartans with a fall at 215 pounds. Ian Ratchford edged Jorven Rodriguez 6-5 at 132.

Berwick 48, Hanover Area 27

Kyle Winter (120) and Liam Carroll (189) recorded pins in under 20 seconds for Berwick.

Joshua Kishbaugh (126), Greysen Kupsky (132), Braydon Hawkins (145), Ben Knorr (172) and Bruce Hartman (285) also had falls for the Dawgs.

Aidan Shamanski (160) had a pin in under a minute for Hanover Area.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Dallas 64, Williamsport 57

Austin Finarelli (23) and Nick Nocito (19) combined for 42 points while Jackson Wydra and Michael Cumbo finished with 11 apiece in a home win.

Kenon Brown led the Millionaires with 18 points.

Wyoming Seminary 63, Lackawanna Trail 28

Isaiah Stull scored 26 points to help the Blue Knights earn a non-conference win at home.

Chief Montalvo (12 points) and Marc Jackett (10) also finished in double figures as the Blue Knights blanked the Lions in the fourth quarter.

Nanticoke Area 72, MMI Prep 59

Jaidyn Johnson scored 24 points and Chris Johnson added 22 as Nanticoke Area pulled away in the second half to defeat MMI Prep. The game was tied 32-32 at halftime.

Payton Kepp added 14 for the Trojans.

Chance Eyerly scored a game-high 27 to pace MMI. Ryan Sones had 15.

Northwest 69, Bucktail 48

Gary McLendon scored 20 points as Northwest defeated Bucktail.

Landon Hufford scored 11 and Alex Kopco netted 10.

Nanticoke Area 68, MMI Prep 22

Riley Baird scored 22 points to pace Nanticoke Area. Caitlyn Majiros had 13 and Claire Aufiero added 10.

Bria Kringe scored 20 for MMI Prep.

Wyoming Seminary 52, Holy Redeemer 40

Zhantoew Akylbekov (100 breast, 100 fly, 200 free) won three event for Wyoming Seminary. Richie de Luna (100 free, 200 IM) was a double winner.

Also posting individual wins for the Blue Knights were Patsakon Ruthirawut (50 free), Daniel Fisher (500 free) and Harry Feng (100 back).

Chris Schell won the 200 freestyle for Redeemer.

Hazleton Area 125, Berwick 37

Hazleton Area had three double winners in the victory.

Ryan Kovalick (200 free, 400 free), Logan Yakubowski (200 IM, 100 breast) and Antonio Daiute (50 free, 100 free) also posted two wins. Liam Leonard (100 fly) and Thomas Pollock (100 back) also won individual races.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Wyoming Seminary 63, Holy Redeemer 30

Ryleigh Collins (100 breast, 100 fly, 200 free) was a three-time winner for Wyoming Seminary.

Cara McCall (100 free), Claire Stretanski (500 free) and Alyssa Kelly (100 back) also had wins for Seminary.

Redeemer got points early from wins by Emma MdKiff (200 free), Katie Schell (200 IM) and Julia Bucknavage (50 free).

Hazleton Area 89, Berwick 81

Sadie Hunsinger (50 free, 100 breast) was a double winner for Hazleton Area. Also posting wins were Kayla Marisofski (200 free), Ashtyn Cartwright (100 fly) and Natalie Yeager (400 free).

Madelyn Frey (200 IM, 100 back) was a double winner for Berwick. Sophia Guerriero won the 100 freestyle.
