PLYMOUTH – Kallie Booth scored a game-high of 18 points to led Pittston Area to a 39-32 win over Wyoming Valley West in a WVC girls basketball game Monday night.
Daniella Ranieli and Amanda Fath added six points each for Pittston.
Trinity Johnson put up 15 for Wyoming Valley West with Gabby Marsola following with 10.
Wilkes-Barre Area 45, Crestwood 40
Wilkes-Barre Area and Crestwood were in a tight matchup the entire game, going back and forth scoring on the court. Gloria Adjayi’s 24 points brought WBA the victory over Crestwood. She went 8for 12 at the foul line along with eight jumpers.
Crestwood’s Julia Glowacki led her team with 10 points.
Dallas 64, Tunkhannock 36
Dallas held the lead over Tunkhannock for the whole game as Elizabeth Viglone popped off with 16 points, and Audry Delgaudio added 13.
Nadia Evanosky and Viglone each put up a 3-pointer to add to the win.
Tunkhannock’s Hailey Long put up two 3-pointers and Anna Williams added one.
Berwick 37, Hazleton Area 36
An all around close game came down to the final quarter as Berwick held Hazleton Area to three points in the fourth quarter.
Sarina DeFinnis had 16 points with four 3-pointers for Berwick.
Sophia Shults was the game-high scorer with 18 points for Hazleton Area.
Holy Redeemer 45, Wyoming Area 40
Mia Ashton’s 14 points on the night helped Holy Redeemer control the game and secure the win.
Jocelyn Williams had a game-high 20 points for Wyoming Area.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Tunkhannock 59, Wyoming Valley West 56 OT
Wyoming Valley West rallied from a nine-point deficit at halftime only to fall to Tunkhannock in overtime.
The Tigers outscored the Spartans 7-4 in the extra four minutes. Ben Chilson led Tunkhannock with 26 points followed by Dylan Mateus with 13.
Jon Mann paced Valley West with 18. Ryan Sullivan had 13 and Tyrese Harris added 10.
Nanticoke 66, Wyoming Seminary 40
Nanticoke took Wyoming Seminary on quite the trip as they won by 26 points. Jaidyn Johnson’s 21 points helped lead his team to victory. Chris Johnson and Owen Brown each followed Johnson with 14 a piece.
Wyoming Seminary’s Marc Jackett added 15 points.
Northwest Area 59, N. Penn Mansfield 52
Josh Miner’s game-high 23 points and five three-pointers helped secure the close win over N. Penn. Gary McLedon follwed Miner with 21.
N. Penn’s Eli Shaw put up 15 points.
Southern Columbia 72, Berwick 57
Southern Columbia took Berwick for a ride, beating them by 16 points. Four of SC’s players scored 10 or more points, including Brian Britton who had 20 points.
Sean Murphy’s game-high 27 points and four three-pointers for Berwick.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Wilkes University 61, The College of New Jersey 55
Five Colonels scored eight-or-more points to secure a win in the non-conference game.
Sophomore forward Trent Fisher completed his fifth straight double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds for Wilkes. First-year Cayden Merrifield and junior Drake Marshall added nine points while sophomore Jackson Shafer and junior Nickerson DeMelfi had eight for Wilkes.
