A close match came down to a third set at No. 2 doubles, where Mia Harmonosky and Willow Lyons prevailed to give Hazleton Area a 3-2 win over MMI Prep on Thursday in girls tennis.
Harmonosky and Lyons won 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Cougars, who also got a 6-3, 7-6 win at first doubles from Jenna Harmonosky and Dallas Huff. Katy Harmonosky won for the Cougars at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
The Preppers got victories from Kendall Orozco (6-0, 6-0) and Ava Genetti (7-5, 6-3) in singles competition.

Maya Rosenthal won her match at No. 2 singles without dropping a game to lead the Blue Knights.
Ella Krypel and Lisa Martens also picked up victories in singles play while Addison Priebe and Ama Reitsma prevailed in doubles. The No. 2 doubles contest was deep into a second-set tiebreaker when the match was called.
