Fittingly, the District 2/4 Class 3A girls volleyball title will run through Berwick.
After an undefeated regular season, the Bulldogs opened the postseason on Thursday with a 3-0 sweep of Nanticoke Area in the Class 3A quarterfinals.
Now top-seeded Berwick will play host to both semifinal matches on Monday, featuring two more Wyoming Valley Conference squads.
Dallas will face North Pocono at 5 p.m. Monday before Berwick takes on Pittston Area 30 minutes after that match ends.
The Bulldogs (18-0) didn’t lose any momentum from the regular season, recording a dominant win in the first set against the Trojans before prevailing 25-5, 25-11, 25-17.
Leading Berwick were Sarah Steeber (2 aces, 11 service points, 8 kills), Morgan Nevel (3 aces, 9 service points, 10 digs), Camille Pinterich (4 assists, 10 digs, 3 aces, 10 service points) and Claire Reira-Gomez (1 ace, 6 service points, 3 kills).
Two other all-WVC matches were held during Thursday’s quarterfinals.
Pittston Area swept Crestwood 25-17, 25-15, 26-24. Dallas shook off a loss in the opening set to earn a 3-1 win over Tunkhannock by scores of 24-26, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17.
The other quarterfinal of the day saw North Pocono sweep District 4’s Shamokin 25-15, 25-17, 25-15.
Semifinal winners will play for the district championship Thursday at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. That will be a doubleheader with the Class 2A final starting at 5 p.m. with the Class 3A title game following 30 minutes after that match.
District volleyball action continues Friday with Blue Ridge hosting the Class A semifinals. Susquehanna plays Lackawanna Trail at 5 p.m. with Mountain View and Blue Ridge to follow.
Delaware Valley will host the District 2/4 Class 4A semifinals on Saturday with Hazleton Area facing Williamsport at noon. Wyoming Valley West will face Delaware Valley in the second half of the doubleheader.
The Class 2A semifinals are set for Monday at Holy Redeemer. Lake-Lehman takes on Dunmore at 5 p.m. followed by the host Royals against Western Wayne afterward.
