The Crestwood tennis team rallied after two singles losses, sweeping the rest of the way to pull out a 3-2 win in Monday’s match against Berwick.
After Scott Lenio kept the Comets alive with a singles win over Berwick’s EJ Switzer, the Crestwood doubles tandems of Sean Rossi and Spencer Young, and Aaron Kogoy and Will Savner clinched the match with a pair of victories.
Berwick’s Isaac Gerken and Ben Yard each won their singles matches to lead the Bulldogs.
Dallas 5, Holy Redeemer 0
It was a clean sweep for the Mountaineers, winning all five matches over Holy Redeemer.
Dallas’s singles trio of Lucas Carver, Luca DeRome and Jon Florencio each won their matches in straight sets. The Mountaineers doubles competitors faced a bit more resistance from the Royals, with each Dallas team winning in three sets.
Tunkhannock 4, Wilkes-Barre Area 1
A solid start for Wilkes-Barre Area turned sour as Tunkhannock won the last four matches to pick up a victory.
The Wolfpack won the first singles match of the day, with Michael Hamel defeating Tunkhannock’s Zak Keiser in straight sets. From there, it was all Tunkhannock, as the Tigers won the final two singles matches and both doubles matches to seal the win.
Mark Holovacs and Aidan Edwards won in singles for the Tigers, with only one game total dropped between the two of them.
MMI Prep 4, Hazleton Area 0
The Preppers didn’t drop a single set across four matches on their way to a sweep of Hazleton Area.
Xavier Bleiler, Reed Fleryshak and Joe Mavernik notches wins in singles competition for MMI. The Preppers team of Jason Salio and Blake Warren finished off the match with a win in doubles action; there was no second doubles match.
BOYS LACROSSE
Wyoming Seminary 18, Scranton Prep 3
Several members of Wyoming Seminary reached career milestones as the Blue Knights routed Scranton Prep.
Jack Herron had a monster day with seven goals and six assists, clearing 300 total points for his career. Teammate Xavier Beaulac reached 100 career points with his four goals and one assist, and Paul Merkle picked up his 100th career ground ball. Quinn Kelly made 17 saves for Seminary, reaching 400 career saves in the process.
Scranton Prep’s three goals were all scored by Brady Holmes.
Crestwood 17, North Pocono 1
Ten different Comets found the back of the net as Crestwood routed North Pocono to improve to 6-1 on the season.
Osten Grigas was the team’s top scorer, with four goals. Four other Comets scored twice apiece: Noah Schultz, Brendan Dennis, Ashton Amend and Caleb Eisenhauer. Jason Swank had a goal to go along with his game-high four assists.
North Pocono’s lone goal was scored by Riley Moore and assisted by Gavin Phillips.
Dallas 13, Wilkes-Barre Area 3
Anderson Leo led the way with five goals as Dallas defeated Wilkes-Barre Area.
Noah Greco had a hat trick to help the Mountaineer cause, and Will Filali and LJ Long each scored twice.
The Wolfpack tallied goals from Max Gregor, Bobby Macko and Jack Senape in the loss.
Wyoming Area 12, Tunkhannock 7
The Warriors picked up a win over Tunkhannock on Monday. No further details were provided at press time.
