The last Wyoming Valley Conference squad left standing in boys volleyball had its run ended as Holy Redeemer lost to host Dock Mennonite 3-0 on Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A tournament. The District 1 champ Pioneers stayed undefeated, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-21.
The Royals had returned to the state tournament as the District 2 runner-up by knocking off Tunkhannock in the Class 2A semifinals.
Redeemer lost in the district title match to Blue Ridge, which won its state opener on Tuesday over Academy of Palumbo.
In Class 3A, District 2 champion Delaware Valley lost its state opener to Emmaus. The Warriors had defeated Wilkes-Barre Area for the district title.
