MMI Prep was able to overcome a 37-point performance by Jaidyn Johnson to edge Nanticoke Area for a 57-54 win on Thursday in a WVC boys basketball matchup.
Ryan Sones (20 points), Nick Pantages (16) and Reed Floryshak (13) led the Preppers to a win after a 30-30 tie at halftime.
Johnson hit 15 shots from the floor for the Trojans and was 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Dallas 62, Wyoming Valley West 45
The Mountaineers broke out for 24 points in the third quarter to take control of a win on the road.
Cameron Faux led four Dallas players in double figures with 16 points, followed by Zach Paczewski (14), Mikey Cumbo (12) and Nick Williams (10).
The Spartans got 13 points from Jacob Stevens and 11 from Navion Terry.
Wilkes-Barre Area 74, Tunkhannock 19
The Wolfpack pitched a shutout in the first quarter, opening the game with a 25-0 lead in a home win.
Evan Laybourn-Boddie led the way with 17 points. Yariel Argueta added 12 as 11 different players scored for WBA and the team hit 12 3-pointers.
Steven Moore finished with 10 points for the Tigers.
Hazleton Area 77, Berwick 46
Joe Marshall turned in a game-high 24 points to fuel the Cougars’ win. Nikoli Santiago added 10 points while Luke Gennaro and Sam Guzman had nine apiece.
Carlos Guzman finished with 11 points for the Bulldogs.
Holy Redeemer 63, Lake-Lehman 37
Eleven different players scored for the visiting Royals, led by 14 from David Popson. Logan Sekol and George Sabatini had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Alex Smith recorded 14 points to lead the Black Knights.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Berwick 107, Wilkes-Barre Area 61
Madilyn Andrews won the 200 free and 100 back while Bulldogs teammate Madelyn Frey took first in the 200 IM and 10 breast. The pair also swam together on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relay teams.
Briana Medina (50 free) and Nicole Castillo (100 fly) each won an individual event for the Wolfpack and helped earn another win in the 200 free relay.

Wilkes-Barre Area 100, Berwick 14
Bilal Derac picked up wins in two events contested by both teams, touching first in the 50 free and 100 breast for the Wolfpack.
