The Dallas boys tennis team didn’t drop a set in their win over Tunkhannock, sweeping the Tigers 5-0 on Thursday.
Jon Florencio, Nate Linnen and Jack Barr each won in singles for Dallas. The doubles points were won for Dallas by the teams of Artem Smagin and Theo Barr, and Logan Tomkins and Sam Robson.
Crestwood 5, Pittston Area 0
It was a clean sweep for the Comets, winning three singles matches without dropping a game.
Sean Rossi, Tommy Biscotti and Spencer Young each won in singles for Crestwood. The Comets won both doubles points by forfeit.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Crestwood 18, Lakeland 2
The defending District 2 Class 2A champs continued their hot start to the season with a rout of Lakeland.
Jordan Andrews and Gia Caporuscio each had four goals for Crestwood, with Caporuscio also dishing out four assists. Jackie Gallagher and Ella Novelli each added two goals for the Comets.
Dallas 12, Delaware Valley 8
Braylee Walsh scored four goals to help Dallas hold off Delaware Valley. Gabby Rogaski had a hat trick, and Sarah Snowdon added two goals for the Mountaineers.
Ava Kraszewski had six goals to lead the way for Delaware Valley.
Hazleton Area 9, Pittston Area 2
Hat tricks for Julia Bobrowski and Brooke Harmonosky were key for Hazleton Area. Abby Smithnosky, Faith Russo and Macie Maylath each added a goal for the Cougars.
Brooke Mulhern and Ashlynn Selden had a goal each for Pittston Area.
COLLEGES
SOFTBALL
King’s, MU split
Misericordia won the first game of the day by an 8-0 score, but King’s answered with a dominant performance in the second game, rolling to a 15-0 victory to salvage the split.
Nikki Elliott led the Cougars in Game 1, going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI, and two runs.
For King’s in the nightcap, it was BrookeLynn Walters with the hot bat, knocking out three hits, scoring twice and driving in two runs.
BASEBALL
Penn College 9, Wilkes 3
Wilkes spotted Penn seven runs in the first and couldn’t recover. Penn’s first five batters of the game reached base safely.
Matthew Show led the Colonels with two hits. Zack Luksic and Jimmy Brazofsky tallied one RBI each.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Wilkes 12, Juniata 9
The Colonels picked up their first-ever Landmark Conference win by holding off Juniata. Wilkes led by as many as eight goals before surviving a late comeback attempt.
Colby Opromolla scored four goals and added an assist for Wilkes. Matthew Warns had two goals.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Delaware Valley 14, King’s 3
The conference schedule got off to a rocky start for King’s, falling in their MAC opener to Delaware Valley.
Chloe Burke had two goals for the Monarchs, with Kyleigh Dunworth adding the final King’s score.
